Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the historic heart of Lucerne at Kornmarkt 5, Brasserie Bodu offers an authentic taste of traditional European—particularly French—cuisine that beautifully captures the spirit of a classic Parisian bistro. From the moment you step inside this charming old building, with its timeless ambiance and character-filled interiors, you’re transported to a cozy corner of France, with warm candlelight and an inviting atmosphere that beckons you to unwind and savor each moment.

The menu is a celebration of French bistro favorites, where every dish is crafted with care and attention to detail. The lamb rack stands out as a signature dish, celebrated by diners for its tender, perfectly cooked richness that melts effortlessly on the palate. Equally tempting are the mussels and chips, which come highly recommended for their fresh, briny flavor paired with crispy fries—an irresistibly comforting combination. Other delectable highlights include the succulent sirloin steak served with garlic butter and traditional frites, the richly spiced coq au vin, and the aromatic bouillabaisse, featuring shrimp bathed in a fragrant garlic broth.

Dining at Brasserie Bodu is more than just a meal—it’s a sensory journey. The delicate balance of flavors, the satisfying textures, the comforting aromas, and the attentive, often lighthearted staff all combine to create a truly memorable experience. Guests often mention the pleasure of sitting outside on the balcony overlooking the river, soaking in the charming river views and the lively square atmosphere, which adds an extra layer of magic to the meal.

While most visitors praise the attentive and friendly service that complements the food so well, a few reviews indicate occasional lapses. However, these moments seem to be exceptions in an otherwise warmly welcoming environment. The combination of reasonably priced, high-quality food and a setting steeped in local allure makes Brasserie Bodu a must-visit for anyone craving a genuine taste of France in Switzerland.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion—like the onlookers fortunate enough to witness a nearby wedding party—or simply looking for an inviting place to enjoy lunch by candlelight, Brasserie Bodu promises an exquisite blend of culinary delight and authentic bistro charm.

Something felt off with the service at this restaurant. I was ignored for most of my visit, while guests who arrived after me were served first which was frustrating. That said, the food was good, especially the lamb rack.

Beautiful old building with lots of character, very attentive service and typical French Bistro-style food. The only negative was the king prawn was just a little overcooked but otherwise perfect.

Amazing experience, best restaurant we have had in Switzerland so far! Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, the food was amazing, and pretty reasonable prices. Definitely recommend the sirloin and the lamb rack!

Highly recommended Mussels and chips and a steak and chips. Both excellent and a fantastic wine list and helpful staff. Got a table on the balcony looking over the river. Really nice spot.

Shrimp with garlic and bouillabaisse were delicious. Waitress was very friendly and put me at ease. Sat outside in the square and watched a wedding party

What a cute and beautiful restaurant. I thought the steak with garlic butter and frites was amazing. The coq au vin was delicious as well as the mussels Would definitely be back!

Excellent food in an authentic French bistro atmosphere. We felt like we were in Paris and waiting for Renoir to join us. It’s the first time in a long time we’ve had lunch by candlelight. The cod was flavorful. Very elegant!

Had a delightful meal Waiter was great, she spoke perfect English, had a great sense of humor.
